David Crowder began his music career in 1996 when he formed the David Crowder*Band in Waco, Texas. The group released several studio albums such as Illuminate (2003), A Collision (2005), Remedy (2007), and Give Us Rest (2012). During their late run, their final album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Christian chart and No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart.

After the band disbanded in 2012, Crowder launched a solo career under the name “Crowder.” His first solo studio album, Neon Steeple, came out in May 2014, with the single “I Am” reaching No. 3 on the Christian Songs chart. He followed that with other solo albums including American Prodigal (2016), I Know a Ghost (2018), and Milk & Honey (2021), continuing to blend worship with rock, folk, and electronic styles.

Throughout his career, Crowder has been noted for his creative use of instruments, for mixing modern worship with alternative and electronic sounds, and for reaching both church-goers and wider audiences with his music.
